Getting up at 3am to catch our flight was hard, especially as Babe had decided she didnn't want to sleep the night before and kept the TV going until the wee hours of the morning (and I think she fell asleep in spite of that!).
Our Taxi arrived early and we were on the way to the LCCT (Low Cost Carrier Terminal) where we boarded our flight to Cambodia. Although I had originally thought this was an hour long flight, it turned out to be a 2 hour flight, with an hours time difference. So we arrived an hour after we had taken off.
With all of us being so tired, we caught a cab to our hotel, the Bopha Ankor, which was about a 20 minute drive.
When we arrived, we were met by the hotel manager who had told us that Air Asia had not confirmed one of our bookings. (We had booked two rooms, one for Lawrence, Babe and Leonard, and one for ourselves, under two different bookings.) Thus Eunice and I didn't have a room for the night. He was extrememly apologetic, and after a couple of hours of negotiations, had secured us a room at the hotel next door, and offered a free meal as compensation for the mess up.
By around lunchtime Eunice and I booked into our room in the hotel next door (The River Hotel Angkor), and we had the other family members in their room. After this we decided to get some sleep before heading out, as it had been a long and exhausting day.
A few hours later we walked around the streets of Siem Reap for the first time, landing in a place called The Temple Bar where Leonard, Lawrence and I sank a couple of beers and shooters before being joined by Eunice and Babe.
We went back to the Bopha Angkor to have our free meal, which was an enjoyable evening.
