Chinese New Year
Found it to be one of those ironic things in life to see the photos of Chinese New Year in Perth. Today at 3:30pm there was the celebration at our workplace, as the owner is Chinese himself. So the martial arts/ceremonial liberally-interpreted 'dragons/lions' (I wouldn't know what they were ) performed the ritual of blessing our workplace to rid away the bad luck spirits for the year. (How I'm still employed then, I don't know either ) All very interesting, but did they perform the bending of steel using their neck? I'm not sure what good that does to luck, personally... _________________ XSRDragRacing.com - Western Australian slot drag racing site |

Re: Chinese New Year
apparently you hould have fed the draons oranges (symbolic of gold) to receive your good luck!!!! I'm still not 100% on the whole thing, there are lots of traditions, and lots of contradictions to the traditions, and as you move from person to person, there seems to be many interppretations .... _________________ |

Still, it was all very good to see how different viewpoints of tradition are performed by all in the world... _________________ XSRDragRacing.com - Western Australian slot drag racing site |

yep, I've heard about that - but I think the "water festival" is different to Chinese New Year ... although it may happen on the same day in some years: http://www.topics-mag.com/internatl/holidays/thailand/songkron-festival.htm _________________ |
