BANKSIA GROVE RACEWAY
New routed 1/32 track under construction. Have been slowly building this track only problem is i work away at times and would like to get a few more hours to finish routing and get the magnatech braid down. the track length is 15.8 meters, lane spacing is outside wall to 1st lane 110 mm, 1st to 2nd 85mm, 2nd to 3rd 85mm, 3rd to inside 50mm.

decided to use magnatech braid as I am used to racing with magnets, track surface is MDF going to be painted with jet dry non slip paving paint

I have packed up the ninco track and reinforced the existing tables, also lowered the tables to give better vision over the track.

more to come Cheers Bill

Next job is the routing, then the wiring ( any one have any diagrams for track wiring and drivers stations) This is a three lane track. I will be using Parma controllers, a 16volt 15 amp variable power supply.

I will be using photo interrupters for the timing sensors.

Cheers Bill

Hi Karl, I wouldn't have been much joy last weekend had a full on week down south working and arrived home completely worn out, didn't leave the property all week end.

But I have achieved a bit more on the track, have finished the routing and starting to paint, doing the boarders first then the lane colors.

Re: BANKSIA GROVE RACEWAY
Ok did a night shift and painted the lane colors. looks very messy but will get covered up with track surface paint.

This is last nights effort the lane colors are done it looks very mesy but the excess paint will be covered up with the track surface paint. Have just finished the first coat on the track, did the boarders white then masked them up, the first was an old flat matt finish paint that I had in the shed, looks alright as a track color and looks ok for grip, I used a small foam roller to apply paint, hoping to give it a slight ripple effect for extra grip. tomorrow will be the first of the top coats jet dry non slip paving paint in charcoal color,http://i229.photobucket.com/albums/ee214/billanderson52/DSC01228.jpg

Still more to come I will post another reply with track paint undercoat.

Bill,

No "first coat" pictures given, but I had a guess at the DSC number and had a look anyway. Looking real good. I assume you have masking tape that reveals your lane colours again.

BTW when I click on the links above I get picture not found due to the being left on the end of the link, I have to strip these characters off to see the picture. Anyone else having the problem? How do I fix it?

Geoff

I must have forgotten to paste the photos, I will re do them later.

This mornings effort, top coat jet dry non slip paving paint. has dried to a very fine sand finish and should give excellent grip.

Re: BANKSIA GROVE RACEWAY
Hi again, arrived home a couple of days early and spent the evening in the shed putting fencing on the track. I used garden edging from Bunnings, 100 mm high in a roll 10 meters long will need 3 rolls, its about the easiest fencing around and at $23 a roll the whole track is fenced for $69. I don't know if I should leave it black or paint it white.

Any comments on fence color. Cheers Bill

Hi Bill,

I actually quite like the black. I don't think I would like white. Maybe you could add a bit of colour.

What are you planning to do with the hole in the centre of the layout?

...as long as they hold a flying car!!!!!!!!
if you paint the fence, the paint may come off when cars hit it. This effect might look cool though.

Hi Geoff, I will add some signs around the fences so it should break up the black, as for the middle hole I have bought a can of expanda foam and i am thinking of a hill or mountain effect, the track has a lot of levels so the scenery will have to be something like a mountain pass. Its a nuisance not having all the braid I could have had you guys around for a test run, I haven't fixed the corners down yet as I want to drive them all and see how they perform. I have the middle lane finished and it is very smooth and fast, it feels like it needs about another 4 meters on the straight. your welcome to come and have a drive. Cheers Bill
Hi Chaldy the fences work well, I have given it a good test already. Cheers Bill

Re: BANKSIA GROVE RACEWAY
Here is a question about posting photos on this site. How come the photos don't appear on the threads like other forums. I use the same format from Photobucket and all I get is the photo id untill the id is clicked on, other forums the picture appears imediately. Am I doing something wrong.
Thanks Bill

Hi Bill,

Click the 'help' on the left when you are replying; basically any raw links will get converted to a clickable link (eg http://neophytte.mine.nu/, or http://neophytte.mine.nu/images/neophytte.mine.nu.gif) - to create an inline image, replace the 'http' with 'img' and add square brackets around; like this:

Or you add use the 'attachment' button under the help to add a local image, but only one image per post can be added.

HTH

Richard
