Sorry people, Richard the points scoring I sent you was the draft that I sent to Dave for dicussion. Two changes were made for the day
1/ Round robin heats, no final
2/ Use your own car

I do agree with the comments given, I think it should stay as we raced.

The rules for Super G+ format were changed on the day due to lack of time. The ones given above are my preference and I would like to give them a try next time around.

I am concerned about the time it took to get through the races. We need to get the right mix between racing and playing/talking. We will see how we go next time but we may have to make changes to the Turbo format or even drop it completely.

All feedback appreciated.

Re: Point Scoring System for HO Racing
Guys

I have been doing a bit of research into slot car and other forms of racing and have an idea for the Turbos that will save some time and be a bit of fun.

How about a Turbo Sprint "one-on-one" match racing.
- Qualifying times used to put racers into a seeded draw with fastest against slowest, fastest and second fastest in opposite sides of the draw etc.
- Each match will be one 1 minute race
- Toss for 1st choice of lanes, the other racer can then choose their (next to them, right away from them)
- Winner of each race through to next round, loser eliminated.
- Last two will race off in the final.

It should be quick. If you come off you will probably loose (unless the other racer decides to wait for you or comes off themselves). Maybe you could wait a lap and knock them off (with your car of course).

What do you think?

Any other ideas?

Geoff,

I think that's a great idea! Add's a bit more variation to the way we race.

Re: Point Scoring System for HO Racing
I like the idea of running an elimination races into a final.

It works like this:
-Say we have 9 racers.
-Run qualifying.
-Top 2 qualifiers straight into the final.
-next 3 into race 2
-slowest 4 into race 1
-winner of race 1 is prompted to race 2, other 2 eliminated
-1st and 2nd from race 2 into final

All races are run as a bracket of 4 heats, winner determined by total laps completed.

I like the idea of this as the slower racers (that would be me ) get to race against each other giving them a chance to win and be prompted to the next race (probably to be eliminated at that stage ).

But I think we should look at all our events and discuss how and why we run each one.

Geoff

I like that idea Geoff - think we ought to have 4 cars running at once for each race, rather than the one-on-one 2 car eliminations.

The chance to progress into the final even after a bad qualifying would work well .

I like that idea, but does it work for a different number of racers?
