Lane Marking
Hi Guys,
Now that i've got the 4 lanes it's time for some lane markings !

I'm thinking that the standard paint pen is the way to go...

One thing i can say for sure, chalk is no good !
Tried it today, and while the marking on the lane is fine it makes a huge mess and the track needs to be cleaned to have the cars run on it again !!
Lucky i onld did 1/3 of 1 lane before testing !!

Yep, Dave mentioned previously that Paint Pens are the way to go .. !!

You'll have to post a progress report on your track!!

Re: Lane Marking
yeah, its rather easy to just draw it on

but chalk is definatly to be avoided !!

as for updates, check the optical timing thread !

Re: Lane Marking
paint pens are a breeze - the only fault is they fade after a few months, but it's just as easy to redo them

Re: Lane Marking
Went to Bunnings today, and checked out the paint pens...
Got, white, blue, red, fluro pink, fluro yellow and fluro green !

And the fluro ones glow under UV
but the white doesnt
need a glowing white for disco racing
i wonder if liquid paper glows under UV...

Re: Lane Marking
Which Bunnings did you get them from? I've been keeping an eye on the Joondalup one and I haven't seen any come in yet

What was the cost of them?

Re: Lane Marking
Hey Richard,
Made it to Clarkson Bunnings today and they have some, but not a great range,
Picked up a more conventional sized blue, and a fluro red.

Still on the look out for a UV pen...

Ideas anyone ? I've been told to look for a security marker, but so far i can only find them on ebay and all of them are OS !

Also found this one which is a bit cheaper, and lists the uses for a UV pen:

Re: Lane Marking
hehe, when i painted the lanes on my old 2 lane track i used model paint and model brush. 2 lanes at 50' was tedious enough so don't try 4 with a brush!

Re: Lane Marking
The camera gets a bit weirded out with the UV light, but the orange and red/pink look different enough !

Also seems that contact adhesive glows under UV. How strange ! But the camera doesnt capture it maybe if i screw with the white balance ?? *shrug*
