Wizard Storm
Hey Guys,

My Storm arrived today !
So far it seems a little faster than a SG+ with silicone tyres, i got the sili-sponge tyres for the Storm, but they are not on yet.

Its not much fun to drive with the standard controller, probably wants 35-25Ohms, and also wants more power ! The standard plug pack seems to struggle to drive it.
After running it for about 10-15 laps i threw on my SG and the SG seems much faster in a straight line ! But doesnt hang on anywhere near as well.

It will be interesting to see how it goes with some real power and a real controller !

Also doesnt like hair pins with the guide pin in the front most position, which is the way it came, with it at the middle position there is no issues

Re: Wizard Storm
if you havent already got one, get the Allen key you need from Bunnings (hmm think it's 0.035" from memory..). Ask at the Tools desk, they should have some in a drawer somewhere.

If it grips now, wait till the sillysponge tyres go on! Chances are the car will be slower too, as they are prob smaller diameter and will deform a bit. THAT'S when you crank up those volts and go for it.

Re: Wizard Storm
Don't have the allen key yet, and i will disregard your advice and avoid Bunnings

but, yeah i think its time to start looking at Parma's and a real supply !!

and yeah the sillisponge and very sticky ! using my try and slide them sideways test..

Re: Wizard Storm
Much better,
But still slow in a straight line compared to a SG+ !

The best way I can think to describe it is that it feel heavier !

Wizard Storm
Hi Folks!

Geoff suggested I take a look here & I'm really glad I did. Great forum. I'm curious though. Who makes the Wizard Storm, where can I get one & how much will it cost?

Ta.

Hi Mike.
Try this link to get the Storm in the Eastern States. (Speak to Richo and tell him the guys from WA sent you)
http://home.austarnet.com.au/richo99/page2.html

I would think twice about the storm however as they are not as quick as a Super G+ (with silicones and a light body) and are more expensive to buy and maintain.

They are well made though and something different if you already own the other varieties of HO cars.
Cheers
Karl

Re: Wizard Storm
Not as quick?

Re: Wizard Storm
I own it and in stock form it is slower !
But it is more reliable, built better and has better go fast options

But now that its loaded with Dave's green arm, its a different story

Re: Wizard Storm
The green arm actually makes it a lot more fun to drive !
As with the stock arm the only places you needed to slow down were on the hill and at the hair pin on my track !
which = boring !
that was at 18V and with 20V it wasnt much faster !
But add the green arm and whoa ! speed on ! Much harder to drive, but much more rewarding

The only down side to the green arm is that when it comes of the track it comes off fast and hard ! it flies off the tables places other cars never do !
