New Mega G
I notice that Greg Braun on his web site (http://www.hoslotcarracing.com/) is taking pre-orders for the new Mega G cars. Due out this month.

Super G+ on the left, Mega G on the right.

A set of 4 Champ cars US$95.95.

Re: New Mega G
Pre orders woulda been a much better proposition about a coupla months ago considering the exchange rate haha

Re: New Mega G
Yes...the exchange rate is the problem at the moment (and it could be bad for a long time.......). Given current rates that would put the Mega G in the AUS$40.00 bracket per car before you add postage costs from the US........

There is a fantastic full review of the Mega G available at

Re: New Mega G
I'm guessing the big question is : will the Mega G be imported into Australia and sold over the shop shelves (like the Super G+ and Turbo)......?

Dunno....we didn't get the SRT Turbo with its Neo traction mags?

Will the retail $$$$ be a factor...?

Time will tell......

Re: New Mega G
available from several US retailers now - whose got one already?

I might get one later next year, if only to put the long wheelbase chassis under a HotWheels body

hopefully our dollar recovers a little in the mean time

I wanted to offer my review of the 4 new Mega G HO cars that are just out.

I bought all 4, and they look fantastic.

They are the best looking open wheel body style made since the Aurora G+ F1
bodies made in the late 1970's, which include several of my favorites.

The new Mega G chassis is lower, longer and better proportioned than any of
the chassis made from the 1990's to now.

Ideal for the F1, Champ, and Indy body styles. The new chassis has strong
magnetic force in the rear, less in the front. I do not have a track set up
right now, so someone else will need to write about how it performs on the
track.

I also picked up a new Ford GT40 with the clear windows - very nice touch -
the slightly frosted glass and interior (made of a card board insert) gives
a much better realistic looking depth to the car over the solid painted
windows sold earlier.

My suggested items for the future:

1. Make current livery of a variety of some real F1 cars. I am sure the
licensing laws will make this a bit more difficult, but I would love to see
the Renault ING car, Toyota-Panasonic, or the silver/chrome
McLaren-Mercedes. If it is marketed to Adults only I guess the Mild Seven
Renault and the Marlboro Ferrari would be nice too.

2. For racing, making the cars with a snap on & off front wing would help
keep this from getting broken too.

3. Someone out there in the slot car manufacturer market to remake a lower,
more narrow tjet styled chassis that can fit historic 1950's F1 and Indy
body styles - shark nose Ferrari, Mercedes, Maserati, etc... I for one have
never liked the poorly proportioned Aurora models, and the slimline chassis
was a failure. Faller F1 is the nicest example for the correct
chassis:body:wheel proportions, just need to remake it with more body
styles. No magnet downforce please, these should slide like the historic
cars. Surely that old pancake motor design can be smashed down flatter with
today's manufacturing technology.

Good job and thanks to the Tomy-AFX-Racemasters team for producing more
great HO slot car designs.

Merry Christmas
