2008 Racing Calender
So that we have one place where people can look to see what is happening when, I thought I would create this topic. I will endeavour to maintain this first entry with the latest dates. As editing doesn't update the date of an entry I will tell you the last time that I changed this entry was Feb 25, 2008. Check back here anytime you want to know what is happening when. Cam and Em have volunteered to hold the April race meet  just before Em heads back to the states.

Drew and Clair have kindly offered to host our May get together.
With Drew's work commitments they are going for a Sunday so pencil in the 25th of May. Like normal, confirmation will come later as will the race program. It will be interesting to see what sort of track Drew has for us this time.  |

Oops, XLR8 and D&C both in May. A couple of phone calls and it looks to be sorted. Thanks Drew for moving a couple of weeks into June. That is now 8th June (still Sunday Dave, and after the Model Train Show, Kev). While XLR8, is hosting us early May. Thanks John and Scott. We will be racing on our own track so we will be looking for volunteers to build it but more about that later. The main thing is to get these new dates into that calender (and take the old one out) |

I was talking to them last night, they have plenty of trussled tables and 1200x3600 sheets of MDF at our disposal. We can make a simple 1200x3600 design or a big 1200x7200. I suggest a 1200x3600 as it will be much easier, especially in a comercial raceway. I have come up with a design (see below). I didn't include a bridge because it is hard enough keeping a non-permanent track in place without having people sticking their hands underneath and the whole thing collapsing, coming apart and putting everything else out. We will need some mouse pad to put down as run off (ala Dave G's) and some barrier/plastic to put up around the edge of the table. [Attachment: basic_1200x3600_track_for_xlr8.tr3 (7.28kb)] |

Unfortunately Drew's track is not available for June so racing is at my place instead. I think that I will still go with Drew's idea and make it a feature race for Super G+. Details of this will follow but it will consists of only 2 classes in the afternoon, one as a support race and then Super G+ as a 3 hour event. Richard has put up his hand to hold a race meet in July and Dave is running one in August. Dave is going to have Tjets as a feature event. Again more details on all of this later. |

Thats great news Richard (and Dave). Richard, being your first race meet, you may be surprised how quickly July will come now you have committed yourself. If you need a hand to prepare let me know.

Due to popular demand, racing at my place will be on a Saturday. (Sorry Dave H, but most people prefer Sat and you were not there to wave the Sunday flag). As we said, Dave G and Richard has swapped months. So next month we are racing Turbos as a support event (1:00 pm start) followed by a longer than normal Super G+. Ten minute heats if we can fit them in. RO in the evening. Sorry no Tjets. July we are doing the Tjets as a feature race so we will make up for missing them in June (in a really big way). So get the 7th of June in the diary. Details later. |
