I've got a box of odds and ends of AFX track that can be permanently based at XLR8 or whoever needs it...

Re: May - Racing at XLR8
I think we should start a collection of track pieces. We have everything else we need to build a layout except for the actual track. If we have the track pieces we will be able to build a track where ever we like.

The only thing is that when it comes to lane markings you can't beat a paint pen so we want pieces we can mark the lanes onto. We need all size pieces.

I am happy to look after it or you could just lend them for that build and get them straight back. Better put your initials on the back of it if you want to get it back.

Let us know what you have available or bring it along to a race meet and I will store it.

I've got a fair few bits of spare track, and possibly one of the largest collection of 90deg 9" curves...

I need some news on dragstrip anyway and it can be an opportunity to take down the track pieces I have for them. A freindly reminder if you like.

Re: May - Racing at XLR8
Hey guys,

A few details of that have been agreed between me and Scott and John at XLR8.

Track set-up on Sat May 3rd.
Practice on Sun May 4th.
Racing on Sat May 10th.
Track pull down on Sun May 11th.

It will be available for practice during the week but at Scott and/or John's discretion/control. We will also leave them some controllers so if others want to give it a go they can but again at Scott/John's discretion/control.

Use of our track by the group is at no charge this includes all practice sessions and race day. Use of any other track either on race day or at other times is at normal rates. Please discuss this with John/Scott.

On race day we will have use of a BBQ and a fridge. We only get charged for the gas we will use. Delivery of pizza can be arranged. Sounds like a pretty normal race day arrangement.

I plan to run our normal 4 events but we will need to check closer to the day what our finish time will be. May have to find a spare RO car or two to tempt them in keeping the place open a bit later for us.

As for track pieces, we will be using paint pens for lane marking so we will be supplying our own track to use. I believe I have that in hand but more about that later.

Details on times and that will come later. For now I would be interested in hearing what track you think we should use. Have a look back and give your opinion.

Re: May - Racing at XLR8
My opinion would be not to think too much on the track until the third. It keeps everyone guessing.

I shall update the website warning, *cough* sorry, informing of our impending arrival and debut at the track. So if anyone can dig out some real exciting action shots of cars and beautiful people who race them (rules me and Kev out for a start ) and send them to my email for use on the site, that shall be a big help.

*disappears again like a Loner in anger*

*...like a Lone Ranger*

EDIT: It might be good to see how many new people go to this race, being in the public arena. Could be worth a few car sales if anyone had that in mind?

Re: May - Racing at XLR8
I think Geoffs idea, that we build a track LIKE one that is already raced on, is good, keeping in mind that quicker RO cars will also be using the design. It is possible that we may be limited by the track pieces we have (12" curves, etc), but i think if we have a general design in mind when we get there we can build around it.

I am sure that the kind people at XLR8 would be able to offer good deals on any Tomy cars that people want.
