Our day started with resting around Lawrence and Babe's place, as we had a flight at 1.40PM to Penang. So we packed some light clothes and around 10.30, Babe and Leonard drove us to the LCC Terminal in KL.
It toook around an hour to drive to the airport, and there isn't much to tell, then we checked into our Air Asia flight and hung around the airport for a couple of hours, drinking Teh Tarik and eating a light meal, as Air Asia charge for food on their flights. Whilst it's a reasonable charge, our flight would only be 50 minutes (it took us longer to get to the airport than to fly to another state in Malaysia!!)
Boarding the plane the flight was short, a bit bumpy, but otherwise uneventful. Touching down in Penang, we collected our baggage, ordered a taxi and took a drive to the Park Royal hotel in Batu Ferrengi. It was a smooth ride.
We were given a bouquet of roses, as Eunice had told them it was our honeymoon when we booked over the internet, and when we went to the room she made a rose bath for us from the petals. Later on the hotel room service knocked on the door to hand us some cookies, what a treat!
We discussed what we would do, as we only have two nights in Penang before we jet off to Thailand, so discussed some tours as we enjoyed the view from the balcony. We saw the concierge and booked two in before headed off to the markets around our hotel, but it was still early, being around 6pm, and Eunice wanted to check a tailor store she saw on the way in from the taxi.
The prices were very reasonable and service was excellent - when we have decided to proceed with the order, they called the 'workforce' of people to create the suits. We had 5 people in total who came to take measurements for this creation. With a new job coming up, Eunice wanted to get me some tailor made suits. So we discussed prices and got a bargain (2 suits + an extra pair of pants for each totalling RM1000 (~$AUD350). They fussed over me and got the sizes they needed, and we organised to have them by Friday morning.
After that we went to a local Mini-Mart, as Eunice had read in the forums that the alcohol and food prices at the Park Royal are on the pricy side, and we bought some water, beer, vodka-pops and a pair of sandals for me at the mini-mart opposite the hotel.
The location of the hotel is great as we are on the street where the night markets are. They are many shops and restaurant in within the vicinity as well.
After gathering supplies we headed back to the beach to watch the sunset and Eunice took the opportunity to have a dip at both the beach and pool.
We returned to the room to get ready to go for an adventure on the streets in the evening, walking the night markets, with a lot of handicrafts, t-shirts, imitation DVDs and CDs, so we took advantage and gathered a few of them.
As we were walking we came across a hawker centre food court, so had dinner there, including fried oysters, fried kwey tweow and BBQ Stingray, with some Lime Juice for around $25RM.
We slowly made our way through the markets and got back to the hotel for a rest, as we started to watch the DVD we bought (Wall E), Eunice fell asleep within 5 minutes!
